Okay, so I took Ana's plan (http://ana-white.com/2010/10/t.....edges.html) and added brackets and a 1x2 underneath the shelf (along the wall - I think this is called a "nailer", but I'm new to this stuff)... So, the brackets have that little rectangular chunk cut out for the nailer to fit in, if that makes sense?
My question is, do I need to attach the brackets AND the nailer to the wall/studs, or just the nailer? And if I do need to attach the brackets, how do I do so from the back of them - is there some sort of double sided screw? I don't want to have a huge hole going all the way through them into the wall, and I've heard that wood filler doesn't stain right...
By the way, I added the brackets/nailer to reinforce the shelf - I'm going to be using it for books, not photos, so it needs to be very sturdy.
I appreciate any help!
