I am making the Rustic X coffee table, and I purchased SPF (spruce/pine/fir) wood. I am doing the legs painted, and the top and bottom shelf stained. The stained, I have under control. It's whih primer to use that I am confused about. Some sites recommend using oil based primer, but the sales person @ Home Depot tonight cautioned me against using oil based primer. She said it takes way too long to dry/cure. Some sites say to use oil based, because it gives a better final product, some sites say no. Very confused!
