i would love plans for a big square coffee table with a hinged lid (like the deck storage bench) to hold quilts and pillows in the family room.
maybe the lid could have two "doors" that hinged in the middle instead of one big one so the lid wasn't too heavy or dangerous for little fingers

If Ana would hack this – http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/photo.php?pid=2755148&fbid=1620615553652&op=1&o=global&view=global&subj=192123916614&id=1184324289, I think we could both make it work for our purposes. :)

That's a great idea, and shouldn't be too hard to implement, either!

I love the size and style of this coffe table one of your readers made.
i think it is just screaming for sides, hinges and to be filled up with cozy blankets and pillows.

the lid i am trying to describe would hinge like this
but i really would like it in your Tryde style.
that would be my dream coffee table.
even better if the sides were a plywood so you could paint the side then stain the lid...
please!

I saw a hinged one just like that at the Goodwill the other week. But it was kinda falling apart and of course I thought I could just make my own.
I have really been torn between something like this with the hinged top and the factory cart coffee table (which I LOVE) but adding drawers on the sides. (maybe Ana would like to add that option)
I could really use a coffee table with storage rather than a regular table type one.

If Ana designs a factory cart with some sort of storage i will have to gift the one I made and make another with the storage option.

it is all about storage when it comes to family rooms. especially when you live in MN and winter is just around the corner. Blanket storage is a must!
