I'm looking into buying a Kreg Jig and had a few questions...Has anyone bought the Kreg jig Jr? It's so much cheaper, I was wondering if it would be sufficient on its own...If I don't wind up getting the Jr version, I'm not sure if I should splurge for the deluxe kit or get the middle of the line kit?
AND, the last question: Do you need to use the special Kreg screws when you use the Kreg jig?
Any guidance would be appreciated :)

special screws: Yes. They have a built-in washer that just fits the pocket hole. A box of 100 of each of the common sizes will last you quite a while.
As for the other, the Jr does not have any clamps, and does not have the board holder part. It will not be as easy to use because you will be constantly anighning the jig with the boards.
I went for the "Master" kit because it had the clamp to hold things aligned, and was cheaper than the mid-range kit plus a separate clamp.

I received the kreg jig k4 from Santa. I just used it for the 1st time today. It was so easy, the instructional booklet and DVD are very simple to understand. I built something very small with it today and just loved it!! I believe this model is typically found for $99.99 and I can totally see it being worth it in the long run. I am no so super with a nailer and have had the occasional come through the side when working with 3/4" boards, this takes that worry away and I love not needing to use glue!! I can't wait for my next project to put it to work!
