I am in love with this! I want it!
I kind of have a plan in my head, book case, top, bottom and sides deeper then shelves. But how are those sliding doors mounted?
Do they run on a rail in the top and bottom? with concave grooves in the top/bottom of the door frames? Must be an easier way. =)
And how to make the doors, light weight? yet still able to withstand minor hits.
I was going to do something else for my first build, but I really, want this. (how odd for me to say that, lol)
After looking as close as possible at the pic, they do have that telltale runner on the bottom, but i dont see anything at the top, it just looks flat.
I found one of these at the worldmarket website, but it was much narrower, however, it had the same black holes/pulls in the doors.
I have a router (for years) but never used it, I suppose you could make the channel by stacking different dimensional lumber, leaving a center channel.

Heck, no one has plans to
Heck, no one has plans to build the doors? I was thinking I could use chicken wire, or even screen, but then everything will get dustier. =)
Ive looked at buying doors, but the cost is prohibitive, so I need to build them, the easiest way possible? I also thought it would be fun to have them open out, instead of slide, for full access.
But more convenient to have sliders really.

Ok, found the doors, not sure
Ok, found the doors, not sure they will work without some beefing up though. homedepot carries them for 199$ for 48" wide french doors.
Someone said they had trouble with them. The shippers put a screw into the frame to the door to secure for shipping, and it split the wood. He fixed it though.
So I dont know if/how to fix them for hanging from the top, even with bottom guides. Maybe rollers on the bottom and guides on the top, but still thats a lot of stress. Any ideas?
Seems odd no one has any ideas on this project lol. Im so new.
