I came across this idea in Google for a stackable guest bed.

The above is the original designed in 1966.

I'm in Australia and we have nothing like this available here so I would like to make one for my daughter’s room.
Does anyone know of any plans available or is able to suggest how to go about building one. I would like them to lock together similar to how bunk beds can (maybe with a metal rod). I would also like the top one to have a bed head if possible to stop the pillow from disappearing etc and to make it look more like a single bed but I like the idea of turning it into a double bed when guests visit such as her grandparents.
Any help and advice is very much appreciated.

It's just a really short bunk bed
I've seen these, and they are built just like stacking bunk beds.
The changes:
1 - Really short upright pieces, more of a leg than a spacer.
2 - No side rails

Thanks
Thanks heaps for that. I will have to draw up plans and hopefully get them built early 2012.

The update???!
Dear Ang,
I'm now obsessed with these beds and found a shipper who can get the UK version to me for $300, but I read that the mattresses are not the best------all of which leads me to think I'm best off if I could just build these myself. The look quite simple, just brilliantly designed.
Did you draw up some plan and execute??? Would love to know.
Roberta
