Washer and Dryer riser

I think this project would be a big hit on your web site.. Here's the deal all front loading washer and dryers have the option to purchase a pedestal separate for about 200.00 a piece so after you have just dropped around 1000.00+ they want you to drop another 400.00 dollars to be able to do your laundry without a back ache.. I have seen maybe 2 or 3 out there in the blogosphere how ever they either don't have a good plan or don't really work out. The basic idea is to raise the washer and dryer up off the floor making the loading and unloading much easier and less painful. Having room underneath your washer for storage or as I would like laundry baskets to hold clothes till laundry day. Please Ana help everyone tackle the laundry backache with a much CHEAPER and clever plan!!!

Great idea!   I stacked mine to avoid the whole extra expense deal.   I considered building a platform but was so worried about the RPMs associated with the washer effecting the platforms that I was nervous about it.   I bet Ana can find a great solution to this one!   Laugh

I have looked at Remodelaholic's version many times. I love the idea of storing baskets under it! I do like the casters on Lumberjocks post. I'm wondering if locking the two casters in front would be sufficient to keep it from moving though? I think any type of storage - no matter how small - is a winner to add to the design. Now if I can just get the help to build it out! =)

I love my Family Handyman magazine. Ihave not been doing any projects - but sure thinking about it! Here is a link to their post: http://www.familyhandyman.com/.....r-pedestal. I still like the storage idea though.

Here is a YouTube video for two separate pedestals. I see he has carpet on top of them to keep the machines from moving.

$80 project: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v.....8oBdlHZCC8

Note: He puts the braces at a 5 1/4" gap. I suppose this could be modified to be a double unit. It's good to see it put together visually!

Here is a video about installing Drawer Slides. I've been very cus\rious how to do this. I want to do this in kitchen island (yet to be built!).
