Simple Armoire

I'm looking for a simple armoire, like this: http://www.jysk.ca/venedig-3-door-wardrobe-1.html

I realize it's basically a bookshelf on one side, with a simple armoire on the other, and it's probably two builds. The bookshelf part I can do (and Ana has lots of plans!) but the simple armoire, I'm stuck. Do I just use the simple bookcase with door plans, and don't put in any shelving, just a rod? Will that be structurally sound?

Basically, what I need is some sort of closet for jackets, boots and whatnot as our entryway has nothing to accommodate something like this. I could do a storage bench with shelf above, or even the Braden hutches, but like to keep it all behind some doors, and need the extra space of a pole because of the larger number of jackets and lack of closet space in the house. (Yes, it's a rental)

Any suggestions welcome.
