You will need a sheet of 3/4" Plywood or MDF (Plywood for stain, MDF for painting), 3 – 8' 1x4s, 1 – 8' 2x2, 1 – 8' 2x4 and a 1 1/4" Wood dowel, and a set of closet rod flanges for 1 1/4" closet rods like this one from Lowes. Also, 2" Screws, 3" Screws, 2" Finish Nails, Wood Glue and other finishing supplies.
Cut List
2 – 1x4 @ 53" (Side Aprons)
3 – 2x4 @ 27" (Supports)
2 – 1x4 @ 27" (End Aprons)
1 – 3/4" Plywood or MDF @ 31" x 60" (Add edge banding to finish plywood edges)

My husband comes home on leave from his deployment in December. But, now I'm itching to make this beauty now! Maybe we can make a new bed for us on his R&R instead...and our son will get a birthday present REALLY early. Thanks again.
thanks so much for posting this - used your design and built one over the weekend for my daughter - i modified it just a bit so i could add storage and a top that doubled as a chalkboard on one side - dry erase on the other !!
Hi Ana, I have been a long time fan and am finally ready to take on a couple projects. Before I start this one, do you have any guidance/specific instructions on using a Kreg jig to make the pocket holes? Or are the 1x4s too narrow for that? How about for attaching the table top? Thanks for all you do. You are incredible and your website is such an wonderful resource.
