That should be strong enough, as long as it is new or in very good shape. Glue them together and weigh it down well overnight, or even a bit longer if you can wait. If you can stand it, I would also put a few screws in to really tighten it up during the glueing.

How would you hold it together?
Could you apply a thin layer of glue and then weight it down until it dries? That could work.
