My husband and I are in the process of making our son the playhouse loft bed. We are using the Kreg Jig Jr. and 1 1/4 self tapping pocket hold screws. Our screws are not flush with the wood. They stick out 2-3 mm which is hard to sand and annoying to look at. What are we doing wrong?

Check the depth
You need to adjust the depth of the hole and the distance of the jig from the edge of the wood to match the thickness of the wood. The depth of the hole is adjusted using the bushing that comes with the stepped drill bit. There should be a guide in the jig case to show you the right settings. Just remember that the jig has to come back from the edge to accommodate this deeper hole, or you'll blow through.
