I've made 6 of these chairs! This was only my third woodworking project and I'm really happy with how they turned out. They are just the right size for me, I'm 5' 5", and my husband, he's 6'1". They are very comfortable and look great around the fire pit.
After building a few things from plans I decided to come up with something on my own, and from scraps I made this bench for my son.
Combined two plans found on this wonderful site with our own revisions to provide a larger desk work area (20" deep). I also added a small shelf to allow for setting a book, water, whatever on it without getting out of the bed. As my first "indoor" project there were several lessons learned - one is to buy the higher grade lumber for the primary components including legs and beams. I did not do this and I had to spend more time than I should've finding good square, straight wood. Another lesson was that staining and polyurethane coating are a skill that requires a lot of practice and time. I and my daughter are thrilled with the final result but choosing to stain/poly it likely doubled the overall build time. Still no regrets, though. My 12 yo daughter just loves her new bed and thanks to this site for the spectacular ideas.
I've been searching for a deck set and I didn't want to spend a lot of money. I altered the plan to include a table instead of another seat (I used a piece of square patio glass from my old patio set). I made this sectional in an afternoon using green-treated lumber and cushion sets from Walmart.
Needed a custom build to fit the plumbing and size requirement for my master bath.

I built these beautiful corner shelves for a friend. It is a great beginner project. I used a 1x8 board but you could also use a 1x10 board. You could also build 5 shelves instead of 3. I used pocket hole joinery.
I was looking for a way to give our house some better curb appeal and decided our stree numbers could use a facelift. The majority of money spent on this project was for the numbers since I had enough spare cedar laying around.

This is a bay window standalone desk. The desk has an enormous top and fits snugly into the bay window. It did not have to be attached to the wall. There are four pieces in total: the top, 2 base units and a support that spaces the desks at 36" and further secures the top.
The base unites are built from the File Base Classic Wall Storage System and the top is glued up 2x12s that were planed down and straight edged.
Ana, First time I have every attempted any kind of woodwork/building furniture other than building Ikea stuff. The plans were very easy to follow and now I want a chop saw for xmas. I roped my daughter in to help me and we completed the project in 2 days. Husband was totally blow away by our achievement. I love it and feel accomplished. Away to work on the table and further benches/seating over the next few weeks. Pauline

I make and sell kids picnic tables on craigslist and a buyer asked about making one of these. I took it on and found the plans on here very easy! I now list these on craigslist also and hope to sell more before the summer is over.
Thanks to inspiration from Ana's post on the Sand Box with Built-in seats, I've retrofit our Jungle Fort (http://www.detailedplay.com/Jungle-Fort-Swingset.htm) with the sandbox cover/bench system. I've upgraded the lumber dimensions to 2x4s and 2x6 to accommodate the increased 67.5" span.
Great plans and cut list, I found the total cost to be closer to $60. per chair just for wood, glue and screws. Very sturdy and comfortable chairs, easy to follow instructions.
I made 3 of these for a friend. 2 @ 16", 1 @ 20".
Lots of projects going on around here, but today I’m sharing my farmhouse dining table I built a little over a year ago (waaay before this blog!). This was my very first woodworking project. I did happen to snap a few photos of the process – sorry about the poor quality, these were taken with my phone!
The wood for building this table was around $100! I think Pottery Barn was selling this table for around $1800 at the time. Mine might not look identical, but for the cost differential, I’m a happy camper!
For the stain I really wanted to create a natural-looking aged finish so I used the old steel wool and vinegar treatment.
I needed a place to store my various countertop appliances other than my limited kitchen countertop. This plan seemed to work the best. My first furniture project.
I used the jewelry cabinet as inspiration by adding crown moulding to the top and b-board to the door and changing the measurements.
We built this table over one weekend and did the finish work another weekend. We are in the middle of building our home so the table project took a back seat for awhile but we are happy with the result in the end! Could be done all in one weekend without an issue.

I just used up some pallet wood and scrap wood for this. My painting skills obviously need to be tuned but it came out adorable anyway! Thanks Ana and Killer B!

I took part of your built in dining bench idea and made my own custom bench. I made a farm house dining table for a family and once it was built and delivered she asked if I could build her a banquet. I had never done anything like it before, let alone install it permanently in some ones house. Because of the way I made the table I couldn't use a straight front face bench, I had to put an angle on it to allow for the table to be up close to the bench. This bench is 10' long, has two USB electrical outlets built in, and two 43" storage compartments. I enclosed the two ends of the bench for the wiring of the outlets so that no wires were exposed.
