This took a lot of time. Many nights and weekends. We used a grey stain and poly for the planks and white paint and poly for the trim. I had to remove the under bed storage because the mattresses we bought were very thick so it was modified a little. Also I added some additional support to each side with another 2x4 because I felt it wasn't sturdy enough with just one support on the stair side. I also included a full roof with cedar shingles so that one of my twin boys doesn't jump out. They are 3 year old maniacs.

I built this play horse barn for my daughter. She loves to play with toy horses. It is 33 x 28 Has a removable hay loft, Stales with working doors and drop down hay loft doors. Hinged on both roof sections for easy play. Lots of love and effort went into making this. I hope you enjoy.

Since my entryway room has 9' ceilings, I wanted something a little taller. I modified the hutch plans for 60" and added another shelf. I used 4 flat metal plates with pre-driled screw-holes to attach tops to bottoms, the bottoms to each other, and one bridging the top.

we used the loft bed plan, cut it down smaller for a toddler. Instead of a ladder we created stairs for it. My son loved to play on this bed but not to sleep on so we came up with the lego farm house bed

Thanks for these great plans. I was able to knock out the project in about two weeks with some late nights thrown in. For the siding, I went with weathered gray ship lap paneling instead of the 1x material. I think it turned out great!

I built these planter boxes to hold my raspberry and blueberry plants. Also by connecting them with 2x2s, it keeps my dogs out of the garden

Inspired by the Farm House table plans. I scored a bunch of old reclaimed barn wood from a friend of mine and decided it would make a perfect table top. I finished our basement and we moved our living room downstairs as planned. Which left us with a very large and very vacant room in the front of our house (14' x 21'). We had always planed to turn this into our dining room when the basement was done since we have no other formal dining space in the house. So this was the first piece of many to be build and placed in the room.

The table is 9ft long and the top is 7/4 thick oak floor boards. I took them down to a local cabinet shop and they jointed the edges, planed the top and bottom, glued them up and cut them down to 9ft (started at 12') for $50. Best $50 ever spent. I live close to Amish country so there are a lot of wood suppliers locally, I found a guy who sells stairway newels and all kinds of posts at super low costs. I picked up all for of my legs for $10 a piece. The exact same post was $33 at my Menards. I just trimmed them up to size and was good to go. I had the same cabinet shop mill the lumber for the aprons and stretcher as well. Its all 1" thick maple with a nice little rabbit cut in the long aprons to act as a ledge for my cross supports. To finish up the legs I added some 4" baseboard to thicken up the look of the bottom legs.

I'm super pleased with how it turned out and so is my wife, which is all that really matters anyway. Next up, entry way bench, 8 Parsons chairs and a steel pipe buffet...

I used the Murphy Bed Plan that Ana had on her website. I modified it so that it would look more like a dresser and would fit into the space that I have. It is perfect and I have used it myself just to see if it was comfy. It was!!! :)

Started off with the original design but enlarged it to fit an oversize single mattress. The mattress cost me $35 from a local faith farm, while the materials came in around $200. I decided to hang under my backyard pergola. Fun and easy project.

Inspired by both Ana's Industrial Closet design and the Sliding Mirror Cabinet.

Making maximum use out of a small space, bought a mirror from Ikea and removed it from the existing frame, everything made in virgin wood from DIY store. Two tier clothes rail to separate big coats from other clothes, two height shelf system to accomodate sloped ceiling. A lot of fun to make!

I made this for my daughter. She placed it at the end of her bed. I was really happy with how it turned out.

We made a very simple raised cedar bed for fairly cheap considering the size and inspired by Ana's plans although it's a much larger and simpler design. The box is 8x4 feet, made of cedar kregged together and the wood only cost $12. My simple tip to save money on wood, specifically for a project where the wood quality is not super important, is to ask the store to mark down the "meh" pieces. The plans were pretty simple to follow, I did change the way I set the bottom shelf in because it wasn't very stable and I was worried it would eventually dip in the middle. I screwed some pieces of scrap wood onto the back to hold it together better and then built a ledge for it to sit on around the bottom. After that I screwed it into the and BAM.. much more stable..

This table was inspired by one from Restoration Hardware. It was constucted using Fir and black pipe fittings from the local hardware store. Please check out more pics on my blog (I had trouble uploading them here due to file size). Thanks for looking!
