I installed a half door to isolate our dog from the laminate flooring when he sleeps at night.
It was only $25 for the hollow core 6 panel door from HD, which got cut in half.
$25 for the passage knob.
$10 for top plate and trim
Less than $5 for the hinges.
Not having to replace the laminate flooring priceless!
Some Tips:
The $25 door is not prehung. Buy the $14 dollar irwin door jig to install the door "http://www.homedepot.ca/product/door-lock-installation-kit-carbon/904157" It will come in handy if you are remodeling and installing new doors to replace those old flat panel doors. You will also have to chisel out the hinges.
When installing and marking the hinge locations in the door frame shim the door a 1/4" off the floor.
Built this toy grill for my nephews first birthday. Went together without many hiccups. I will say these plans seemed less detailed than other Ana White plans I have worked on...but for the better I guess, as it forced me to figure somethings out on my own. I opted to add the drawer behind the grill plate, like the blogger who also made this grill did. Kept the same color scheme as well. Pretty proud of how it turned out.
Took roughly 15hrs and $500... We bought the top at Lowes for $150 on sale (Acacia), because it turns out butcher block counter tops of this size (considered an "Island" top) are like $500 and I don't know who can afford those shenanigans but certainly not us. Interesting point: in as much as I totally appreciate the design (Thank You Ana!) the instructions are mostly beautiful but have a few key areas with room for improvement. If you are thinking of building this take some time to go over all the materials and really map out the project. I purchased everything in 8' lengths as per the shopping list, I realized afterwards that because my unit is only 5' long I now have many 3' cut-offs.... had I purhased 10' lengths, you see where I'm going with this yes? I would have paid more per board but had less leftovers. I think I also have a package of unopened screws and an extra board from the shopping list, no big deal, it's like the 10 hot dogs for an 8 pack of buns conundrum, I've now entered an infinite loop. I also realized too late that to use the pocket hole screws to secure the counter top I would need to drill the holes (using my handy dandy Kreg Jig) before putting the slats on the top shelf or else I couldn't get my drill in, rookie move I know...You may find, as I learned, Lowes/Home Depot do not carry such things as 4x4s that are not pressure treated and therefore not ideal to have in one's kitchen...I ended up purchasing all the lumber at an actual lumberyard (Peacock Lumber, Oshawa, Canada), which was cool, because now I know where that place is, and it smells nice. Have fun with your build. I tried to post some other pictures but they kept coming up sideways, story of my life. Take a look on Facebook if you want Adam Connor in Pickering, Canada, I'm not shy ;-)

I modified this plan so I could have 4 total work areas. Total Size: 48" x 96"

Is there anyway you can share these plans with me!? I drew out some plans for an identical table but I think my cuts may be off! It would be so helpful.

Is there a full update post with instructions for the table shown?

LOVE this! Just what I'm looking for! Can you tell me what you used for the top?
The only thing I did different to the plan was add 4.5 inches to the back slats so I could round the edges and 3 inches to the right arm rest so I could cut out a track to rest a wine glass. One thing I highly recommend is to create a stencil of the stringer. I did and now I have it for the next one so the next chair will be consistent. Thanks Ana white, this site is very therapeutic for me. Already built 3 projects in the last month.

The mods on this make me now want to build a set of these, the wine glass holder is genius! love the rounded front and back, so much better than original plans, thanks for inspiration!
Super simple build with fabulous results! I have been using as a coffee table and it looks awesome and is functional for lots of toy storage as well. It would also work so great to house extra blankets and throw pillows. I added a lid support so it does not slam shut on little hands. This would also be a perfect addition to any playroom for some nice looking toy storage!
I recently published my first foldable farmhouse table last week here: http://ana-white.com/2013/06/foldable-farmhouse-table The first one I made was very heavy because I used 2x6 tops and 4x4 legs. I decided to make another one that would be lighter and easier to transport. The plans are basically the same just instead I used 1x6 for the top and put 2x4s together for the legs. I also shorted the length by about a foot. The only issue with making the table shorter length is that the legs don't fold completely flush. You could easily make the legs short enough to fold flush, but then the table was a little too short from the ground up for us. The same as before I simply used kreg joints to join the top boards together. I then made a 2x4 frame and attached it to the bottom. I made each of the legs separately by joining 2x4s together and sanding everything down. Everything was stained before putting the legs on using Miniwax Dark walnut stain. I used 2 coats of Miniwax water based clear coat to seal it. A notch was cut out on each of the bottom 2x4 supports on the legs and I glued in a small piece of wood cut to size. These are so I can put in a 2x4 support board under the table so that the legs do not fold in on themselves when it is standing up. The legs are just attached using door hinges you can buy in packs in the hardware section. Be careful when screwing into the 1x6 top not to use too long of screws or else you will over screw and have them come through into your table top. We have built something very similar and we have a good bit of wobble at the top, even though the stretcher down the center of the table is holding solid in there and secred with clasps. Were thinking of some sort of sliding pin into the top of the leg to the apron. Anyone run into this before?
I took on this project about 3-months, I was inspired by the excellent plans provided by fsmumford. I made a couple of modifications, adding a small bump out in the middle, to enhance the castle look, fabric covered seat cushions on the stairs, and an added 2x2 in the middle of the bed to add extra support.
Thanks to fsmumford for the awesome inspirations and great step by step guide.
I used your basic plans, but modified it to use some scrap wood I had from another project. I used blue stain pine, tongue and groove.
I made this toy box for my niece who is expecting her first baby (it's a boy). I know she likes things clean and uncluttered, so I added a lid, and then added some corner pieces to make it a little more juvenile.
It was so much fun.
My wife wanted an entry way bench that would fit the baskets for a cube storage shelf units. Each box is 11 1/2 square and accomidates a 10 in basket. The bench is 50 inches long and and just shy of 19 inches tall. The depth of the bench is approximately 12 1/2 inches. My wife made the cushion for the top and we purchased the baskets from Lowes.
Made the outdoor sectional. The coffee table was made out of left over pieces!

So smart to make the coffee table out of the spare pieces.
Looks amazing!
I had so much fun building this! I got a little creative with the corner section and decided to make it a table. I built a small hatch so that I could put in a container for ice and cold beer. When the hatch is not in use, the container can be removed and the hatch can be closed to provide more table space. I also added drink holders!
Turned the sandbox into a pirate ship. The kids love it!

I created two sofas, a love seat and a table by modifying the modern chair. I added a back extension, tipped the back back 10 degrees, and angled the seat platform down a few degrees. Considered doing Adirondack arms, but my wife preferred the rectangular shape. The table is a variation of the 2x4 patio table (base construction similar), but we substituted pine 4x4 legs for the 2x4s, and implemented a 2x6 "picture frame" around Mexican tile on top.
I used pocket screws to attach the arms to the sides, and also to hide screws on the table "picture frame".
All-in-all, I would say this is an elegant-looking patio set that should last quite a while. Very solid, very heavy to move around (my only complaint).
We plan to add some colorful throw pillows.

Like the changes!
What is the angle of the chair/sofa back 110 degrees?
Thanks

I made this pantry to match some new kitchen cabinets that my friend ordered from lowes. He wanted me to make all of his cabinets but unfortunately I didn't have enough time, it was kind of one of those things hey I'm redoing my kitchen can you make this. This was all built and designed from a picture his wife found on pinterest with just the measurements for the space it needed to fit in.

HI -
My husband and I have been trying to find a DIY Pantry for our kitchen. We've looked everywhere and finally came across this! We love it and would like to try and build it. Do you have the plans available to share? I look forward to hearing back from you.

Hi Ana! Do you have plans? My daughter is moving and could always use more kitchen cabinets. She loves kitchen gadget everything!
Lots of fun but, make sure the base frame is fully square. This is such a joy to look at in the kitchen and we're already looking forward to using the additional space come the holidays and the extra cooking and baking planned.
This is a rabbit hutch I created for my kids 5 rabbits. The thing that makes this hutch really nice is if you have a large lawn you can just move the hutch a little bit every day and the lawn gets mowed, fertilized and you don't have to worry about cleaning up all the rabbit droppings. I also mounted a rabbit feeder on the inside of the house door to keep the food dry, which has worked really well.
Here is a short blog of all the steps in its construction:

I apologize I haven't got the completed planset up for this project yet but I will try to get it up in the next couple of weeks as well as a very complete materials list. You will need to go to a farm/feed store to get the correct 1"x2" wire and 1/2"x1" wire for the floor. Do not go to Home Depot and use the cow wire they have or the hardware cloth for the floor, neither of which are the correct choice. Home Depot has the lumber but not the wire. If you have any questions or even improvements to my design I would be interested in hearing from you.

Finally got around to uploading the plans. I still need to create a material list for this plan but the basics are there now. We've had rabbits in it for about a year but recently we've tried some guinea pigs and it works great for that as well. The guinea pigs can pretty much live off just the grass and dandelions but you do need to move it daily to give them plenty to eat.
