Storage Bench

Submitted by bRick on Sat, 06/10/2017 - 17:26

Pretty basic bench made from Home Depot pine boards (the cheap ones, not the Select Pine stuff). I had some extra trim pieces from a past project so used that for the base trim. That stuff is pretty cheap anyhow so it wouldn't be too much to add to other projects.

I didn't have too much trouble with this one other trying to get the paint on evenly.

Narrow Cottage End Tables

Submitted by akwebb3 on Tue, 08/03/2021 - 14:21

We bought new couches and of course they were larger then what we had in the Family Room previously and my old end tables would no longer fit. I needed something narrow to go on either side of the sofa and these fit the bill perfectly! I also really liked that they had drawers for remotes or other random things that usually just end up on top of the end tables.

Platform Toddler Bed

Submitted by sraper2 on Fri, 04/26/2013 - 08:18

I got my inspiration for this bed from the Fillman Platform Bed. I left the platform off, used 2x6s, and added bun feet. I love how low it is to the ground because I don't have to worry about my kiddos rolling off at night or jumping and getting hurt.

Bristol Outdoor Chairs

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Sun, 06/18/2017 - 18:44

These were great plans to work from and we love how the entire set turned out.  We already had an outdoor table so we also built and replaced the top with one that matched the chairs. We spent more for outdoor fabric and marine grade foam for the cushions since they're exposed to weather, but the results were worth it.

Built from Plan(s)
Estimated Cost
$300 for cedar and finishing supplies; $100 for outdoor cushion fabric; $250 for marine grade foam inserts.

Week Long Project (20 Hours or More)
Finish Used
70/30 blend of teak oil and Helm spar urathane. The back patio of our home faces west and gets heavy afternoon sun.

Grandson's Loft Bed

Submitted by mmcuevas on Fri, 09/10/2021 - 10:20

So, my grandson's room is quite small and my daughter was asking for advice on how to arrange things. I found this plan and figured it would be perfect! It was quite easy to build, but did take longer than I thought. We had three of us working on it and we build it over Labor Day Weekend. It isn't perfect, but my daughter says it just adds character. He loved the bed and the extra space to play underneath. It really did the trick to open up the room. Thanks Ana for all the great plans! You are my idol!! Now, I just have to build one for all the grandkids!

Picnic Table

Submitted by Medickep on Mon, 05/06/2013 - 07:39

My wife started looking at expensive patio sets, which I thought were not worth the price, so I decided to build a picnic table. This is not the cheapest table out there, but it's built to last for years!! I used a high quality cedar as I got a price cut from a friend. I also used deck screws, so there would be no rusty screws!! The table top measures 7' long and looks like one you would see at a state park, notHome Depot!

Estimated Time Investment
Weekend Project (10-20 Hours)
Finish Used
Cabot Australian Timber oil: For this project I went with an oil project so I wouldn't have to sand it every year, like so many in my area with their decks. With this product, you simply clean the table and reapply!!

Farm House Table

I took the original plans from the Farmhouse Table - Updated Pocket Hole Plans - and I modified it so that my table could be countertop height and join up to my counter -  like a modified breakfast bar, so this table it countertop high, and is also more narrow and alittle longer.  I can easily pull it away from the wall and sit 6 people around it.  It is now my favorite place in the house!

Estimated Cost
$200
Estimated Time Investment
Weekend Project (10-20 Hours)
Finish Used
Oxidizer (steel wool and vinegar) and then sealed with Water Polyseal and then Miniwax Paste Furniture Wax

I added extra metal supports underneath to help avoid wood movement over time and added metal corner guards.
