Farmhouse King Bed Frame

Since developing a love for woodworking I’ve began building things for other people. This particular bed frame I built for a couple who are rebuilding their home after it unfortunately burned down. It’s a beautiful farmhouse home out in the country, and this bed frame fits perfectly in their new home.

Estimated Cost
$250
Estimated Time Investment
Weekend Project (10-20 Hours)
Finish Used
I used minwax pre-stain to prepare the wood. I then stained it using special walnut by Varathane (got it from The Home Depot). Finally, I finished it using a clear satin polyurethane by Minwax.

Outdoor Pergola with Seating Built-in!

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Sun, 08/27/2023 - 12:14

Pergola outdoor room plans modified to make side seating instead of side tables. Left sides open. Added cute crochet swing bench. Anchored to concrete slab with iron plates and added decorative wood ties that match footing. I've gotten so many compliments and no one believes I made this!

My granddaughter had been wanting a loft bed for well over a year. We decided after a year it wasn't just a phase so I went to Ana's website and got the plans. Can't thank you enough Ana! Easy to follow instructions, sturdy finished product and most of all a VERY HAPPY granddaughter! We call that a Win/Win.

Twin Raised Planter Boxes

Submitted by dave92082 on Sun, 04/29/2012 - 18:46

This is a build of the Raised Planter Box design by Tracy. While it is a fairly simple plan, I would still call it intermediate. One thing to note is that the bottom Cross Supports are listed in her plan as 46" when they need to be 47 1/2 to match the side panels. You can see in the picture above, I laid the incorrectly cut piece on top of the correct one that is screwed in.

Estimated Cost
Around $50 each ( a little less not counting hardware)
Estimated Time Investment
Day Project (6-9 Hours)
Finish Used
Going to prime and paint soon.

Thanks Dave for posting the pictures.. I see what you did differently from my plans and I think the way you did it was MUCH better. Congrats on the build, they look great!!! I'm going to rearrange my plans to make the changes and post the correct measurements to reflect that.

Modified L Shaped Desk

This was my first woodworking project in a couple years. I modified the size to make it about 60" on each side. Now that  I am working from home now due to COVID-19 for the foreseeable future this has been perfect to use in order to have two monitors and enough room on the sides for other work.

My husband and I love to sit outdoors and read with a hot cup of tea. The wide are will be perfect for us. Would you mind sharing the cost of your project?

Hi!  I would love to make this patio set but I am having some trouble with cushions. I noticed that Ana stated this chair will use a standard size 20x20 cushion.  On your notes it says you got your cushions at Target, are they 20x20, I love the deep cushions but cant seem to find any that sized. Are yours 20x20, or did you modify you project? If so, what dimensions did you use? Thanks so much!!!

Looks amazing! What method did you use (pocket holes, dowels, deck screws, etc) to join the visible portions like the arms?

Farmhouse Stair Railing

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Wed, 01/03/2024 - 08:44

We built our house 5 years ago and I’ve disliked our stairs since then. They were never finished and were big and bulky compared to the rest of the house. These plans were the perfect fit. We switched the top 2x4 for an actual handrail, purchased from a big box store. We used pocket holes to install it and I couldn’t be happier. It’s now my favorite thing in the house. We plan on adding a loft and will use these plans for the railing.

Great easy project to get the bigger chicks out of the garage to integrate with the older hens. Made some modifications because we have a lot of critters trying to kill the chickens/chicks.

Farmhouse Inspired Sofa Table

Submitted by danicarby on Tue, 11/08/2016 - 04:25

This was a very fun project for me!  I love turning unwanted-old things into something beautiful and usuable!  I built thit table using a reclaimed door and old railing spindles but you could easily improvise by using dimensional lumber for the top and buying new spindles or using 2x2's if necessary!  This took me a few days because I built as I went and made sure it was just right.

Guess what?  I built it for $37!!  The door and spindles were a great find at my local Habitat for Humanity store - check yours out!

I have a building tutorial on my blog so you can make one too!

Estimated Cost
$37 - plan for around $50 if reclaimed materials aren't being used

Catio heaven

Submitted by bhoppy on Fri, 09/04/2020 - 15:43

Ana doesn’t have a plan for a catio but she does for a playhouse and a cedar shed made from 2x2’s. I sort of combined my knowledge from making her plans over the last 10 years and came up with this for my cats. It was fun to make!! My baby kitten is loving it. I used garden fencing and stapled it to the outside and pocket holes for the walls. I made each wall individually like the playhouse then connected them once in place.

Estimated Cost
$250
Estimated Time Investment
Week Long Project (20 Hours or More)
Finish Used
Cabot semi transparent outdoor deck and fence stain. ($9 oops section)

Thank you for sharing! My daughter wants a cat for her birthday but it can't be inside due to our son's allergies. Roaming outside isn't really an option because we have coyotes. We are going to use one of these in combination with an underground electric fence.
