Patio Seating

Patio Seating I decided on.. Went with the same concept i did as before with the pallet storage table bench, just on a larger scale. Added the back and complete.. Probably should of done 6 supports for the back since its a solid 10 foot bench. Its completely stable but most defiantly would recommend 6 vs 5. I did do the lid in 5 foot sections to make easier for taking on and off.

Loft bed with platform

Submitted by Radek on Thu, 12/18/2014 - 16:09

Modified a plan to fit 200x90cm mattress and added platform with steps from another Ana's plan.  Also added LED strip light under mattress base and under the platform. We leave that on at night so it's safer if he would wake up at night :)

In the future I'm planning to build a desk with drawers and a bookcase to fit under the bed.

Thank you Ana, my son loves it :)

2016 update :)

Finally added drawers (from Ana's plan) desk and shelfs. added four cool white LED lights over the desk.

Thank you again for your plans!

Cal King Farmhouse Bed

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Sun, 03/19/2017 - 21:06

After multiple military moves, we were tired of factory made furniture with veneers that don't hold up to wear. So we were so happy to find the plans for this bed in a Cal King size.  Not only is it a classic design, but it's solid, sturdy, and we know exactly how to repair it if needed! We built everything to plan except that we used brackets to attach the side rails for ease of dissembling during moves. We love that it works with our freestanding, moveable base Tempurpedic mattress with no need for support slats.

King bed with matching night stands

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Tue, 01/19/2021 - 13:55

Used one of Anna's plans here and modified for my height. Used 24In legs as I am 6'8" tall. Bed is perfect height for me and my 5'3" other half doesn't mind having to climb. (-: Also made the headboard slightly lower than the plan, but would opt to make it higher next time I build. Waiting to stain or paint...just haven't decided what to do yet. Also, because I am a big guy, I beefed up the center support which you can't see in this picture. Overall the buil dis amazing and sturdy and doesn't move at all. Love it. I made the night stands from the plans Ana had too but made the legs 24in to match the bed height.

I wanted to try a high gloss finish on unstained pine and this seemed like a great project to try it out. I can’t believe how often I use this tray. Now I don’t know how I got by without it! Thanks for the plans!

Trundle coffee table

Submitted by colsen on Sun, 02/17/2013 - 13:51

This project took me longer than most because I had to wait to borrow a circular saw for the ply wood base. This is my second completed project and the biggest challenge for me was getting the frame and drawer square.

It lives up to it's name as the "20 sec tidy up". My living room already looks a million times better. I'm going to build a few crates for playing cards.

Industrial Media Console

Submitted by zjlawlor on Sun, 12/28/2014 - 11:12

I built this media console for my brother. When I first started woodworking he showed me an entertainment center that he liked on Etsy and I did my own twist on it. I started with Ana's media console plans and made some modifications to get my basic structure. I cut down some cool pallet boards to use for slats and fill in the bottom. From there all I had to do was figure out how to work metal! This was by far the toughest part. Using a bunch of angle iron, expanded metal, and hex bolts, I was able to achieve the look I was going for. No welds! Granted, it would likely look better with welds, I did not have the tools or the know-how. I also ordered the 5" industrial casters for this project which I had in mind for the start and really love the look.

Estimated Cost
About $250

I was going for more of a grey color to match my brother's other furniture. Used an earth stain and poly mix I found. Did 3 coats with light sanding in between each, and after my final coat I sanded down the slats to let the pallet boards character show through.

Queen bed with rails and headboard

Submitted by K79miller on Sun, 02/07/2021 - 09:21

I have an adjustable bed frame so the rails are not supporting any weight. Each piece of wood in the headboard is 5.5 inches long and 1.5 inches tall. I used boards that were 1/2 inch thick and 3/4 inch thick and put them on in the checkerboard pattern. I have some navy blue and coral in my bedroom so I decided to paint a few block with those colors. I used poplar wood because I thought it would hold up better and it wasn't too expensive. It took a while to build because of cutting all of the individual blocks.

4 Cubby Shelf

Submitted by JenFarrell on Sun, 02/24/2013 - 18:14

My first project!!! The house we live in has 4 closets in the entire house.. so we're quite in need of storage. I was really hoping the bookcase would work out, to relieve the jam-packed linen closet. I'm so happy with it, and with the learning experience. I didn't do the moulding option, more or less because I'm impatient and want to get the next project going. Thanks Ana for the inspiration and the plans!!

Pantry Shelving System

Submitted by hstreat on Fri, 03/31/2017 - 20:23

DIY Home Project:

So I wanted to help my Wife Patty with reorganizing and reclaiming the usable storage space in our laundry room/pantry.

As you can see, in the before and after photos, we had quite a bit of clutter with the limited storage space, so I designed a two section shelving system to maximize use of the upper dead space in the pantry while adding additional shelving for increased storage and better organization.

The two sections are built 48' square with a frame base added to the bottom of the lower section.

The tops of each section are measure at 49 1/2" to create a 3/4" overhang on each side.
