You may remember my green stratton day beds that I built a long time ago- finally I have another project to post- I am soo happy I found Ana White's website. We just got back from a 2.5 week vacation in Israel and my dogs were staying with my sister. She told me they had been sleeping in the same kennel together instead of separately. Their kennels are too small so I decided to build them one using wood I already had. But since they are small dogs, I decided to size it down- but I wanted it end table height- so I built a smaller kennel- 20"H x 19"W x 28"D. but... I added a drawer to the top to bring it to the right height. You can read all about it on my blog- link below.

I made the boxes a little wider than the plans called for but still came out great. I'm very happy. Thanks Ana for the inspiration.

I love taking good stuff that people throw out and up cycle them. Someone on my street had thrown out two sofa sets and the cushions were is perfect condition. They had slip covers on them too. I washed the covers and built the sofa to fit the cushions. I built two single chairs, a love seat and a matching table. Super happy with the way it turned out.

This was an easy project to complete in an afternoon that does not require any advance woodworking skills

This is my first project.  With some help from my husband (navigating the power tools-- the table saw in particular) it was completed in a few weeks.   We live in Army housing, so I never really know what kind of space we will get. Inevitably, there is never enough storage, so this will find a home in any new home we might live in.  I used beadboard for the back, stained minwax special walnut. The paint is Benjamin Moore serenity blue- and then I used acrylic polyurethane- adding another level of kid resistance;)  Great plans Ana, and I am so excited to do my next project!

UPDATED: New photo with bar and stools on covered porch. Very happy with how it worked.

We wanted the Ballard Sutton Console Bar Table and three stools to go with our outdoor furniture. Unfortunately, that little package was going to run about $2,500. Decided instead to see if I could build the things and make up my own stools to match. So basically by studying the picture a little bit figured out my plan. Then the stools are more or less a mini version of the table with a couple modifications.

I haven't itemized the bill, but built 3 stools for about $50, and the table was a little less. Incidentally, I can never find decent common 2x2s, so I have started ripping 2x4s into two 2x2s, and they come out clean, sturdy, smooth, and most important, straight!

Stained them using MinWax Puritan Pine to try and get the new teak look we wanted. Not too dark -- wiped the stain after 5 minutes.

I made a loft bed for my 4-year-old son using Ana's Chelsea Loft plans. When I finished, I was able to build this toddler bed for my 1-year-old using almost entirely scraps left over from the loft (save for the 1x6 runners). I skipped the curved headboard design and went with a solid piece of 1x12. I was going to round the top edges or cut a more rounded design, but my wife said she liked the squared off look better (she has lots of ideas for painting various designs on it, apparently). Since we were going to use paint and not stain, I ripped some leftover MDF board for the 1x6 footers. The whole project took a single afternoon, including cutting, assembly, woodfill and sanding. The end result is pretty sturdy. My wife laid on it with both our small children and the slats hardly bowed at all.

This took about a week.  I had several challenges but with the help of family, I was able to get it assembled. I use it for my tool shed.
