Pergola (Modified Weatherly)

This Pergola cost around 200 to build for lumber, concrete (poured around posts) and an additional 50-60 for fabric used to create shade.

It went up in about 8 hours from start to finish with the help of a novice friend.

I omitted some of the column details to save time and money.

None. I later spoke to a painter who suggested that if I were to paint or finish this project that we give it a month or so in the sun to properly dry first. Just an FYI for anyone contemplating something similar but with a finish.

Fancy X Farmhouse table

Submitted by rjgold on Tue, 05/21/2019 - 12:47

I came across some 18'x12"x1" (actual size) boards that were milled around 1870.  These planks came out of the roof for the building.  Rather than cut them down I just built a "double frame"

I used 2x redwood for the frame.

Laundry basket dresser/folding station

Submitted by morty2223 on Tue, 11/29/2011 - 19:37

After seeing the many posts on here about the great laundry basket dresser, my husband and I embarked on our first project. I knew I wanted the double dresser with the counter for folding on top. We love how it turned out! Since this picture, I have added shelves on the far left section. I also chose to use 1x2 for the slats instead of the "L" shaped pieces of steel.

Awesome job you did! This is exactly like I am hoping to do in my laundry room... I have a sink to the left in the corner of the room... hoping maybe to add some doors to the laundry dressers too.

Farm Table

Submitted by kittykat on Tue, 10/29/2013 - 17:28

We wanted a table but didn't want to pay the ridiculous price of 600-800$ for table then 250$ for one bench. So we made our own table. 6ft long. Along with two matching benches. Think the total project cost us around 200$ for wood.

Altered 8 seater table

Submitted by Spayton821 on Sat, 01/16/2016 - 08:58

I fell in love with the truss beam table, but realized that it would be too small for our family of 7. With a little altering and using ideas from the pub/counter table, my husband and I were able to complete this lovely square table!! It stands about 36 inches high and is about 60 inches across. I am in love!

Stenciled Santorini blue farm table

Submitted by newhousel on Thu, 05/30/2019 - 11:58

We used Ana White's plans beginner farm table plans to build this table and can't recommend these plans more! Thank you Ana! The build took my husband and I two hours to build. The sanding, sealing, painting, stenciling, and finishing took several days, but the actually build was VERY easy and straightforward. We're total beginners, so we were very happy. The stencils are from Cutting Edge Stencils and are called "Indian Inlay Furniture Stencil Kit by Kim Myles."

I really like this plan and put it together in about an hour yesterday. Only one problem...the measurements consider the width of the 1x12 as being 3/4 by 11 1/2. The 1 x 12 I purchased in Home Depot are 11 1/4 inches wide. I'll have to Kreg jig some 1x4's together to make the top, but it should work out fine. I am a beginner at wood working, so I've learned to pay more close attention to the actual width's of boards.

Lydia Doll Bed

Submitted by spiceylg on Sun, 11/03/2013 - 01:47

I thought this bed was also available on Ana's site, but it was a previous brag post submitted by the builder (I think her name is Brook?) and referred back to her blog. Here's her brag post:

http://ana-white.com/2011/04/lydia-baby-bed?destination=node%2F1911

and here's her blog:

The larger sized plans are available on Ana's site. It's really not that much different from the farmhouse doll bed and it's called the Lydia Doll Bed. I didn't add the side molding and built the box where the mattress sits following Ana's farmhouse doll plans. I also simplified the design on the decorative curved pieces because I didn't want to bother with sanding a more intricate design. I had elves in the workshop this year. My sisters came to visit with brother's-in-law and one brother-in-law routed the top head and footboard piece to give it more pizzaz. We built several for my annual church craft show.

Afternoon Project (3-6 Hours)
Finish Used
Primer and Linen White by Benjamin Moore. Unfortunately it needed two coats plus touch ups, so probably guestimate 3 coats.

Love the doll bed. The details are beautiful and with the bedding it is just precious! Great job!

Oudoor sofa and coffee table

Thank you thank Ana for this awesome plan. It took me a week to transform the ruff cedar into beautiful 2x4. We use the kreg jig everywhere we could so the holes would be hidden, and black deck screws, and I couldn't wait for the cushions to share :) we added the extra pieces at the back and armrests. We used 12 boards 2x4x8 and no waste as we changed the measurements of 24" instead of 25.5 and height at 11" for the seat. One regret I used Thompson water sealer... we live in Florida and I am planning on leaving it outdoor.

I made them ;) bought the foam on Amazon 72x24x6 (I wished I bought 5 inches high instead) and the fabric I found in a discount fabric store , sumbrella fabric for $12.00 a yard!!! And cut all the cushion seats 24x24 and the back pillows I copied the pottery barn lumbar pillow size, I believe it was 26x18 razor age .

Our son and his wife wanted a snack cabinet in their bonus room dormer. My husband and I used your Farmhouse Desk plan and tweaked it with your Barn Door Cabinet plan. They love it! It was a first cabinet build for us and we were proud! You are our go to for ideas and plans. Thank you!

Media Cabinet

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Wed, 01/20/2016 - 22:00

Being a stay at home mom I am on a budget. Finding a cabinet that fit our price and style was near impossible, until I found these plans. I was looking for a piece that could function as a media stand but also had enough space hide my kids toys. This plan fit the bill perfect. I modified it slightly to suite our needs by adding additional drawers in the center and making the doors full height on either side. This was surprisingly easy to build and I plan to make another in the future.

Body of cabinet was painted was a latex ultra white paint and top was several layers of antiqued walnut wood stain that was sanded in between coats till I got the desired look I was looking for. I ended by sealing the cabinet with three coats of polycrylic

Farm Table for Birthday

Submitted by Docmike on Sun, 06/23/2019 - 20:15

This table was for my wife's birthday present.  I followed/modified the simple and pocket hole farmhouse table plans.  The table top is 1x12 pine as I couldn't find any cedar that wasn't cupped or warped after several weeks looking and wanted a wider board top.  Then we used the easiest padded bench plans, adding height as suggested to the legs and using 3 cedar 1x6's for seats.  All tops were sanded and sealed before 4 coats of marine spar poly were used.

Thanks for the plans, Ana.

Little Kids Picnic Table with Umbrella

Submitted by Handy Andy on Tue, 04/04/2023 - 11:35

My daughter was given this umbrella at Christmas, but needed a table to go with it.  Ana's plans for the preschool sized picnic table worked perfectly.  I built it using one standard sized shipping pallet and even got to try out my new router!  Thanks Ana!

Floating Modern Tree

Submitted by margjack on Fri, 12/16/2011 - 20:56

I was obsessed with Chelseawa's plan for a tree like the Possibilitree and finally whipped one out this week for my boys. This was my first time to use a table saw, so my cuts aren't as even, but it still turned out great. I hung it with heavy duty fishing wire from the ceiling, instead of making a stand, and I love the way it "Floats". Thanks, chelseawa!

Looks great! I am considering hanging mine this year just because we now have kittens and if it is hanging at least it can't be knocked over. I am glad someone found my plan useful!
