Golf Club Locker

Utilized the plan for the Locker Book Shelf-Full Size and modified it a bit to convert to a golf club locker. Definitely keeps all the clubs, shoes, and accessories organized and eliminates the clutter. My wife loves it, course she added the baskets, which makes it look awesome!

Actually this is how I stumbled upon Ana White's website. I was looking high and low for a plan for golf club lockers, and found Ana's website as part of the process. Best google search I've ever done!

Simple Daybed/Farmhouse-Bed-Hybrid

I needed a bed for my guestroom and decided to build a mixture of the simple daybed and the farmhouse bed. The back and the front rail are attached with bed brackets for easy disassembling.

Dear Uli, I love the daybed you created and I'm planning to build my own next week for our guest bedroom, which doubles as my project room. Could you tell me what height you made the bed? It looks lower than the average headboard height, but higher than the average footboard height. I'd like to make mine close to your, which I think is just perfect.

Thx :-) I've made the panels 19,5" high, and the legs measure 31,5". On top of the panels I screwed and glued a timber, which is a little bit thicker than a 2x4. So the overall height is 33,5". If you like I could send you my sketchup file.

Those dimensions will be a big help. I've constructed more than 30 pieces now, thanks to Ana, so it's no big deal for me to design my own plans and dimensions now. I'm hoping to complete this project before my sister comes out for a visit. Wish me luck!

I absolutely love this daybed and have been searching for such a bed, even to buy, but have found nothing. My husband is super handy and loves wood-working, so I think I am going to put him up to the task! :) Could you e-mail me your sketch-up file as well? My e-mail is [email protected].

Also, is there room to put a trundle underneath...this is a must-have for us. Do you happen to have any plans for a trundle? If not, hopefully my husband can come up with something for that!

Hi, your bed is beautiful, could you please send me your dimensions, I would like to attempt, making this but kinda do an L, with a twin, and then a toddler mattress, at the head, the smaller mattress, would be like the short side of the L! Very new to this, but I would like to give it a go!

That's exactly what I want to do. I cannot download Google SketchUp, (It requires Windows 7 or newer. I am still running XP.) so I cannot access the plans provided. Could you please share yours? I also need the bed to accommodate XL twin mattresses (upper and lower beds). I could make those adjustments to your plans if need be.

Hi Uli, I just love your bed, I'm new to building your own furniture but since I saw your bed I wanted to build it so I'm doing it. So far I have made the laterals and the back panels and now I'm putting it all together. I have some questions and maybe you can help me... you used bed brackets for the back panel, how did you put these so that they won't be seen? did you put them in the top and bottom of the panel?

Hi Uli,

Outstanding work. I am going t make this for my 2 year old son. Quick Question.

I am confused about how to attach the posts to the panels for the head board. I assume you drill in from the far left and right of the posts? Do you use wood putty to hide the holes later? Could you use pocket holes? Or would that not be as structurally sound. Any advise would be appreciated.

From the instructions:

Now attatch the 4x4 posts to the panels. Make sure you pre drill half way through the post and use the 4 1/2" screws. Line the top edges of the panel and the post, keeping everything square as shown. Screw into the panel where it is sandwich 3 boards thick. Put at least 6 screws in each post.

Planter Box with Trellis

My husband built the Planter Box with Trellis for his mother for her birthday. We planted one of our rose bushes in it. They are pink teacup roses and should look fantastic against this bright white backdrop once the buds blossom.

This was a great project that was easy to cut up beforehand and put together the next afternoon. I think I want one!

Thank YOU, Tina! The plan was so easy to follow and we were just amazed that this thing came out looking almost exactly like the picture. Often times, we are not so lucky and "modify" the project at the time, or "modify" our expectations when it looks a little different. Not so with this one. It's perfect!

Secretary Cabinet

I built this cabinet as a Christmas present for my mom, but life got in the way and I just got around to finishing it this week. It didn't helo that I was just learning my way around a Kreg Jig when I started this project. I used 1x12 dimensional lumber from lowes, and went with the cheap stuff. Looking back I would have just splurged on purebond 3/4" plywood because the boarda would have been smoother but at the time I didn't have my rip cut saw attachment. Instead of the euro secretary hinges I used short pieces of chain attached with eye screws for the drop down door, and I like the look and ease of the rustic black hinges versus the euro style for the doors.

My first build, the simple twin bed

As my daughter got older she refused to sleep in her crib, so I decided I wanted matching beds for her and my son. We live in a small 2 bedroom house so they have to share. So while looking up ideas for nice beds at a cheap cost I followed links until I reached ana-white.com and I was amazed. I sat on my computer for hours yelling at my husband to "COME LOOK AT THIS" (which I still do today). So I picked a plan and started on in. With some help cutting from my dad I had the first bed done in a couple days. Sadly I have not finished the second due to a random mind and trying to find a way to make my boy and girl room a little more grown up and uni-sex friendly.

Shoe Bench

I saw the shoe dresser plans and liked the idea of getting the shoes out of sight! Then I decided to modify that plan and turn it into a bench that you could sit on while putting on your shoes! So this is what I came up with using a 2x12 for the top and 2x6's for the legs. The drawer part is pretty much the same as in the shoe dresser plans. It's 4 feet long and 19 inches high. It's already been in use and we love it! With 4 kids, the number of shoes can add up quickly! I have a second bench sanded and ready for assembly!

Outdoor 2x4 Sectional

This sectional was made by my daughter @bluebellesdesign for my husband and me about 6 years ago. She used the 2x4s from a torn down fence. As you can see, it has aged well and the cushions are needing some love but it has been a tremendous addition to our outdoor living.

Such a fun project. This is the 5th piece my husband and I have completed by Ana White. This bed is by far my favorite piece of furniture in our home. So sturdy and only took a few hours (not including stain and poly). We have a love for knots, so we chose pieces of wood that had a lot of beautiful imperfections. We went very light on the stain, and it looks weathered with still some of the natural wood color shining through. We got our wood from our local Home Improvement store, and had minimal cutting to do. Neither of us are pro woodworkers by any means, and we completed this with ease.

Small Gable Roof Greenhouse

Ana's plans are so easy to work with. This greenhouse was build with all recycled materials from our home build, except for the corrugated plastic (total cost approx. CAN $1,000). I did have to make it a little bit smaller as the area that was leveled was a bit smaller than planned. I'm planning to add raised beds inside, add a solar panel so that I can have light in the evening and a fan during the day. I'm planning to attach some gutters and a rain barrel.
This is my second project, based on Ana's plans (first one: https://www.ana-white.com/community-projects/indoor-firwood-console). Next, I'm planning to make the fancy X farmhouse table and bench with storage. Stay tuned.

I have been dreaming of this project for YEARS! I used shelfhelp to design the shelf size and the open bottom mudroom plans with matching hutch and the plan with lift up boot storage for inspiration. I still need to add trim but I'm so excited I couldn't wait to say THANK YOU for all the inspiration and help! We absolutely LOVE it!!

On this project we modified a few things like the arm rests which we cut at an angle to keep kids from pinching fingers in there if someone decided to move the bench back on them. We also modified the size which we made 6'x4' to maximize play sand space and kid space. Therefore this made our benches bigger so that big kids (my husband) could sit on the benches and play in the sandbox. Yes there was talk about putting cup holders but I won the conversation by mentioning sand in his drink and we would have to do a sippy cup. We notched out the handles instead of installing handles which made it look sleek. We used the template from the hinge so it matched the shape....clever huh? We decided to primer and paint this one sandstone in the brick and mortar sample book by Behr and had them put it in an exterior paint color for us. We used a wagner paint sprayer which made the project fast at the end. Overall still an easy project for anyone. I do suggest pre drilling all holes first before screwing in screws so the wood doesn't split when doing the slats on the top.

Farmhouse Table and Benches

We built this Farmhouse table in a week. Unfortunately, we didn't get it completely put together for four months. Now it is finished. It is our first project. We used pine and fir boards from our local lumber store. It is finished with red chestnut and dark walnut stain and then a couple coats of briwax dark walnut (love that stuff!!). The table is 96" and pictured here without the 15" bread boards that go on either end. The benches are 8' as well.

I loved your stain. I see you used two types of wood and two types of stain. Can you tell me more? Did you alternate the wood pieces? Did you stain the red chestnut first and followed it with dark walnut? I'll probably copy what you did :)
