Kitchen Cabinet
My wife and I needed space in our kitchen to store various items. This cabinet works perfectly for that purpose.

I used the basic ideas of your project but sized it to the wall in the bathroom. My first hardwood project. Pretty pleased.
This was all my husband - he did a great job using the modular desk plans to customize (its a bit larger) this desk for our office. He finished it this past weekend so not much on it yet!

WOW, this is so awesome, well done! Thank you for sharing.
Maddie needed a little extra boost to comfortably reach the bathroom sink. She loves this stool!
I modifyed the Simplest Stool to be oober short, and painted the design using leftover wall paint samples

Thanks! Thats what I'm hoping! That's also why I'm debating on whether or not I'm going to paint her name across the top like originally.
Fri, 11/04/2011 - 15:56
Some time ago we found a small piece of furniture that had been made by my grandfather. How'd we know? He'd carved his name along with "for Betty" on the bottom of the piece. It wasn't a particularly pretty piece of furniture and we wondered why it had been kept as long as it was - until we found the engraving (that's really too nice a word, primitive carving is more like it!). If in doubt about putting her name on it, just put it underneath. Someone will find it years from now and know how much love went into making it!
I'm so happy to have found your site! I've been wanting a potting bench for a while. Today the Hubs and I built this one in Daffodil Yellow! It is only partially painted, but I already love it! The hubs wants to build a modified one for his heavy electronics equipment. Thanks a Bunch!
This spring I was able to build the preschool picnic table for my son. Today we fully used it for a picnic breakfast with the cousins. It can easily fit up to four kids ages 2 to 7. (I also built the chairs in the fall)
Our wine fridge died, and we didn't really need to replace it. Since we can always use more storage space in the kitchen, the hubby made me this coffee bar as adapted from a coffee bar brag post that was adapted from Michela's Kitchen Island plan. He was able to make it with all 2x4s and created the 4x4 legs by gluing 2 boards together. Put it on some caster wheels and we have a perfect coffee bar!!
I have two girls and my youngest was getting out of a crib. I could build another bed or include both girls and build a bunk bed. I chose the bunk bed route with the approval of my wife and got started. I loved the plans from ana-white.com and decided to pull the trigger.
Total cost for bed not including the new full mattress was around $300. A huge savings from the estimated $1,500 from comparable beds on the market. This took me about 2 weeks total but that was a couple hours here and there. I would describe most of the work as beginner skill level but a couple of the steps had challenges but you could figure it out. My girls were out there helping me build and paint so it was also very memorable. Thank you again for all you do Ana.

I used the twin simple bed plans, full simple bed plans and the twin over full plans for the ladder. It was easier to just print them all off. Hope that helps
When I showed my husband the plans for this playhouse loft bed on Ana's site, he decided that we needed to build it for our daughter for Christmas. We combined the two plans for the Playhouse & the stairs and modified it slightly to fit our space. We had left-over carpet which we used on the stairs. She absolutely LOVES it!! And secretly, I think her 3 older brothers do, too. Thanks SO much, Ana!!

If you look in the section above, you'll see "From Plan:" There are two links (they're black and don't look like links. You'll need to hover over them). One for the basic bed and one for the stairs.

I do not see the plans for the playhouse loft bed. Where is it located? Can you email it to me or post the link?

I would say your 2 year old daughter is a little young for a bed this high. I think general guidelines would suggest waiting until age 6 for lofted and bunked beds, but I think that's being very cautious. Our daughter is just about to turn 4 and she does fine in it.
Wed, 01/25/2012 - 11:29
You did a great job! That looks fantastic!
I'm going to be making this bed within the next month or two for my daughter. She's 4 (will be 5 in April). I know the overall design isn't *that* high off the floor, but my daugter has a tendency to roll out of bed...often. LOL
Do you find the guardrail/slats are high enough to prevent roll offs, or should I add some height to them when I build?
Yours turned out awesome! I can see why your daughter (and sons) love the bed!

Hi Cindy.
Thanks for your kind words.
We had the same concerns about our daughter rolling or falling out. She is almost 4, but still had rails on her previous bed. We put the slats that the mattress sits on in the very lowest possible position and actually traded twin mattresses with her brother who had a thinner mattress. Her's had a pillow-top and even the extra 2 inches made quite a difference.
There are nearly 9 inches between the top of her mattress and the top of the rails which is plenty to prevent accidental roll-outs, but it certainly wouldn't hurt to add extra if it would make you more comfortable.
Now if we could just keep her from standing up there, I'd feel a whole lot better. lol
Good luck with yours.
Kara

Hey Kara,
Thank you so much for replying! That does make me feel more comfortable that there will be around 9" between the mattress top and the rail top. Not sure yet if I'll add a bit more or not, but it's good to hear how it worked out for you guys. Now I'll be hoping to keep my little dare devil from trying to 'fly' off the top of it and we'll be good to go. LOL
Thanks, again! That was really helpful.

I've seen some posts on Ana's Brag Boards of these lofts with full sized mattresses on top. Ana's original plan is a twin bed, but others have modified it to suit their needs. You may just want to search and see if anyone has included their plans for a full. Sorry I can't be more help. Good luck!

That is very nice if you dont mind me asking how long did you make that one... I am wanting to make one for my daughter but I dont have 103 inches that called for in the one plan...

We made our bed to the exact specifications that Ana gave (103"), however, if you need to save space, you could leave the stairs off and opt for the ladder.

Hi Kelly,
There are links to the 2 plans in the "ABOUT THIS PROJECT" section above. Just hover your cursor over the "From Plans:" and the links will change color. They appear black and therefore, don't look like they're linked to anything. They're both there. Good luck!!

Hi there, I was wondering if you could tell me where you got the fabulous little washer and dryer combo that I see in the photo. I know the sweet owl painting is from target, but I love the little play space you seem to have created! :)
Sat, 03/17/2012 - 22:52
I LOVE this so much! I love the color scheme as well, we decided to copy the scheme in my daughter's room. I was wondering where you got the curtain from? Did you buy it or make it yourself? It's almost exactly the color of the green paint we bought so I would love to know. Also, I love the washer and dryer too, also curious about that. Thanks!

Hi Kristie.
I made the little curtain and the little washer/stove/sink set are from the Playskool Rose Petal Cottage collection. Good luck building your playhouse. It's a little girl's dream!!

Hi Kara,
I'm really interested in building two of these for my girls... they caught my attention because they've been asking for a bunk bed and I don't want to do a bunk bed because I hate the idea of struggling to change the bedsheets. Just wondering if it's a hassle with a bed this height.
Yours looks amazing, btw!
Thanks,
Sarah

We made this bed for our daughter and now my son and daughter play with her kitchen and table underneath in the playhouse. Your instructions were so easy to follow and everything matched up perfectly. We did do the ladder due to space but the bed is beautiful. We get so may compliments when people come over and I always tell them about your website. You truly have awesome ideas! I can not wait for the next project and I am sure it will be off your site :-)
Mon, 10/07/2013 - 17:26
I love your playhouse with loft bed! How tall is the underneath part? Would you be able to fit a desk underneath? Also, could the plans be adjusted to accommodate a double bed?
THANK YOU!!
The Ana White corn hole board plans were straightforward and easy to understand. Building was a breeze. Our boards turned out great!
Used Ana's Modern Farmhouse Bed plan for the frame. Made the headboard with old pallets.
I meant to post this a long time ago, but I kept forgetting. Ignore the mess in the background, we were renovating our house. I roughly used Ana's upholstered toybox ottoman plan, but really, I just made it up as I went along. I constructed a plywood box the size that I needed it (i.e, big enough to fit my husband's video game accessories).
Wed, 02/22/2012 - 07:18
Fantastic job on the ottoman. And I love the fabric! Where did you get it?
This is the first piece of furniture I have ever built. I'm super proud. It was fairly easy. I can't wait to fill my house with all of my future creations!
I built this Lego table for my son’s fifth birthday. I added some dividers in the trays for organization, Brickyard plates for the table top and road tape around the edges.
Master bedroom makeover ❤️ bed plans are from Ana White
I modified ana white's plans to build a smaller x console.
I built this scaled down version of Ana's Hall Tree to fit into a 3 foot wide space in my daughter's living room.
Kitchen organizer by Teezy
Perfect for porch sitting!
After reviewing the comments I was a bit hesitant to start this project but then I realized I will build then make my own opinion. I am very happy I did because these pedestals are sooo wonderful and beautiful. This project must be built with extreme detail and everything must be square, etc to avoid any vibrations and complications. I did include extra center supports and thought of it like building a house frame.
Mon, 02/10/2014 - 11:38
Looks solid! Did you follow the plans? We have a samsung front load washer / dryer as well. It's not the same as yours, but we have a hard time keeping it from moving around. We have tried making it as level as possible but still have a problem. Did you find by putting it on a pedestel that you had any issues? I was thinking maybe if I did build a pedestel, I could drill or recess holes on the platform for the feet to go in to prevent it from shifting around. Let me know your thoughts, thanks.
Thu, 02/13/2014 - 10:50
Thank you for your comment! I will send you a follow up note with my comments this evening. Thank you and have a great day! Happy Building.
Sat, 02/15/2014 - 12:33
Hello - Yes we did follow Ana's plan with some minor modifications. My suggestion would be to knotch it like a corner deck post so the 4x4's can go through the platform. If you don't understand I will happy to forward you a drawing. Just let me know. Thank you! Good luck!
